Description

“Apollon” was released on September 27, 2024, as Ghost Mountain's first single after returning to Haunted Mound following his departure in 2021. Ghost said he and Sematary started talking again around 2022, initially just to rebuild their friendship. He remembered recording “Apollon” around late 2023 and said it was probably his first song on a Haunted Mound beat since leaving. The song and its music video coming together helped convince him that returning felt right. The title refers to the Greek myth of Marsyas, a satyr who challenges Apollo to a music contest and is skinned alive after losing. In a March 2025 Pitchfork interview, Ghost connected the story to the pride and sacrifice involved in releasing music publicly again. He said it wasn't a literal account of his return to Haunted Mound and wouldn't say whether he identified with Apollo or Marsyas. produced by oscar18 written and mixed by ghost mountain add. mixing by sematary
