Guidance
What counts as a Post
Preserve a discrete online or social publication, even if someone else authored it. Choose Image when the visual itself, rather than its publication, is what you are archiving.
Platform
Choose where the Post was originally published. Use Other for an unlisted platform or leave it unknown when you cannot establish it.
Account
Enter the publishing account’s name or handle as it appeared at the time. This can differ from the Artists associated with the Post.
Link to the post
Use the original publication’s direct link, even if it no longer works. Put an archived copy or supporting page in Sources.
No link known
Select this only when the original publication URL is unknown. A removed Post with a known URL should keep that URL.
Availability
Available means the original Post can still be viewed; Removed means it no longer can. Choose Unknown when you have not confirmed its current availability.
Preserved text
Transcribe the Post’s original text, retaining its wording and line breaks. Do not turn it into a summary; add explanations in Sources or image notes.
Posted date
When was this publication posted? Enter only the precision you know: year, month or exact day. Leave unknown parts empty rather than guessing.
Artists & Collectives
Add the Artists or Collectives this archival object documents. This association does not claim they authored the Post or created the Image; use Sources to explain the connection.
Post format
Choose the publication’s format, such as a story, reel or thread. This describes how it was posted, not the subject of its content.
Add what you know. Moderators help with the rest.
